About Me

It all started when…

I fell in love with my friends’ poodle Jemma. She was such a silly, loving and smart girl. So when my rescue dog, Luna, died I started looking for a poodle. I found a breeder of beautiful Parti poodles in Bakersfield and I got Stella Blue in September of 2012 from Karen Sisco. I could have never been so lucky. She is everything I ever wanted.

When Stella Blue Turned 2, Karen suggested I breed her to her import from Montreal, Canada, Opus’ Special Edition at Sisco, AKA Bently. I never thought of being a breeder, but with Karen’s guidance and help from Barbara Cassie of Opus, I had my mentors.

We had two litters just over a year apart. The Grateful Dead litter in 2014 and the Beatles Litter in 2016. Whelping was easy and the puppies were amazing and easy to train. There were bumps along the way and a learning curve, for sure. I had Karen’s help along the way until she passed in 2017.

In 2016 I discovered BetterBred, which is an online tool that helps maintain and distribute genetic diversity in poodles and other breeds. It is used in conjuction with UCDavis VGL testing. I found out that Bently was a diverse parti and I brought more diversity into my line wit those two breedings. I scoured the pages trying to find a mate for Aiko from my first litter. It seemed like all the parti poodles were related to her. I found Sailor, Jacnic’s Call Me Navy and he was a category 10 with Stella Blue so I bred her one last time for the Celtic Litter.

Finally when Aiko was almost 4 years old I decided the only way to make diverse partis was to breed back to a Solid and I found Jag, Tudorose Bonnie Prince Charlie, a champion hunting poodle from Jac Harbour. She was such a wealth of information and kindness and help for me. Aiko had 12 puppies from that breeding of the Hopeful Heart Litter in 2018 and I kept Aretha who had great diversity, good structure and a beautiful temperament.
